About us

Health Management and Economics Research Center (HMERC) is the first research center in the field of health management and economics in Iran, starting its activity in November 2003. HMERC is affiliated with Isfahan University of Medical Sciences working in a medical academic environment. HMERC tries to provide policymakers with sound scientific evidence for evidence-based decision-making. Over the last decade, HMERC has helped the health sector to improve its efficiency while considering a better quality of care. HMERC has a team of 17 members who are working together in a multi-disciplinary atmosphere.

 

Establishment of the HMERC Center

2004: Founded by starting two national projects

2006: Formal starting of Health Management and Economics Research Center

2009: Obtaining agreement from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education

2014: Obtaining the definitive license from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education

 

Overview

HMERC Vision

Our ambition is to become a leading national and regional center by 1408 (Persian calendar year, equivalent to 2029-2030) in the generation of valuable evidence within health management and economics. We aspire to serve as a primary resource and reference point for policymakers and managers, facilitating evidence-based decision-making and driving continuous improvement in national health policy and management.


HMERC Mission

The Health Management and Economics Research Center at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences is mandated to advance national and university health policies. Leveraging the expertise and dedication of capable and innovative researchers, alongside the application of contemporary science and knowledge, and fostering national, international, and interdisciplinary collaborations with other academic, research, and industrial centers, the center aims to cultivate skilled and passionate researchers. It will generate the evidence necessary to address challenges within health management, policy-making, and health economics. Furthermore, through knowledge translation and empowering managers, the center seeks to improve the structure of the healthcare management system, ultimately enhancing the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of health interventions at both the national and university levels, thereby improving responsiveness to societal needs.
